Great Plains Support in Michigan: Consulting, Upgrade , Programming Computers Articles | June 30, 2010
Microsoft Dynamics GP or as it was formerly known Great Plains Dynamics, eEnterprise and Great Plains Accounting for DOS, Windows and Mac has large number of installations across the state.?
In some cases we see old Great Plains customers, who need support with such issues as moving GP or GPA from old server (WindowsNT , Novell) to new one: Windows 2008 or 2003 and they need professional to redeploy Pervasive SQL 2000. ?You may need version upgrade with several required steps, especially when you move from Great Plains Accounting for DOS up to current version Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, or when you are migrating from Pervasive SQLBtrieve or Ctree to Microsoft SQL Server. ?We?ll try to give you some technology highlights, assuming that you are IT consultant:
1. Supporting old pre-MS SQL Server version of Great Plains. ?These would be Great Plains 7.5, 7.0 , 5.5, 5.0, 4.0 and earlier (usually you do not see instances, earlier than 5.0) on Pervasive SQL 2000Btrieve or CtreeFaircom. ?In some cases you may have Great Plains Dynamics for Macintosh (usually version 5.0 or 4.0). ?If you are one of these archaic versions, you probably do not have annual enhancement contract with Microsoft and you do not have access to Dynamics GP Customer Source to lookup knowledge base for possible causes and solutions. ?Well , old Great Plains versions (except Great Plains Accounting 9.5, 9.2 and earlier) are somewhat similar in functionality and even in user interface (at least UI should be recognizable) to the recent versions and your local Dynamics GP consultant should be able to help. ?Data repair is normally via such utilities as Check Links, Clear Data, Rebuild and Microsoft Access (where you connect to Pervasive SQL DB as set of linked tables)
2. Great Plains Dynamics Programming. ?New versions have such cool tools as eConnect, Extender , Visual Studio Libraries. ?With older versions you probably have Great Plains Dexterity customizations, Modifier with VBA, Integration Manager with VBA even handlers, Continuum, ReportWriter , Crystal, Microsoft Access reports. ?Microsoft Dexterity is still one of the most popular modification options and if you have legacy Dexterity customization, you need Dexterity programmer to help you with custom add-on version upgrade
3. Michigan specifics. ?We see high demand for such Dynamics GP extensions as Warehouse Management (barcode scanning based) and eCommerce (connected with WMS). ?Also in auto parts or government contracting related manufacturing or production business we see the need in automatic workflow and batches posting (to import Manufacturing Orders automatically, handle them with some exceptions and post all the way through the General Ledger). ?For healthcare providers we see good value in Microsoft CRM integration with Dynamics GP (where all your customers and prospects are stored in Microsoft CRM and you have less expensive MS CRM user licenses for your sales people)
4. Local service in Michigan. ?Please call us 269-605-0330 or 1-866-528-0577, or preferred email us help@albaspectrum ?Our ideal customer is in Central. |
